We’ll be returning to the undiscovered gem of New Smyrna Beach just twenty minutes south of the Speedway. A relaxed location with an attractive marina and a lively ‘downtown’ area with restaurants, bars, shops and popular sandy beach. A fabulous few days to enjoy all the fun of what Florida has to offer – and not just the motor racing!
We kick off the weekend on Thursday evening with an informal 'welcome' drinks & dinner overlooking the beach. Our race build up starts on Friday evening where we’ll watch the always thrilling Truck race under spotlights. We’ll spend some leisure time together on Saturday with a stroll down the famous beach and boardwalk and I’ll guide you round the MotorSports Hall of Fame Museum, with lunch in the famous North Turn Restaurant, on the beach “where it all began”. That evening its cold beers and hotdogs with the locals as we witness frantic ‘grass roots racing’ at a local half mile track. Then come the big day, there’s nothing like the Daytona 500...
We’ll take a walk on the famous banked track and be centre stage to watch the driver introductions and all the razzmatazz that goes with it! As the atmosphere builds, the national anthem blasts out and the jets fly over... the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, the crowds are going wild then finally the flag drops and the Daytona 500 gets underway. Inches apart, four wide into turn 1 approaching 200 mph! Incredible, exhausting and a true motor racing spectacle. I’ll see you there!
